Mounded deciduous shrub with dense growth. Large, dark green leaves have serrated edges. Snowball-like flower clusters are deep lavender to blue and bloom for several weeks in mid summer. Plant in moist well-drained soil. When planted in acidic soils, produces blue flowers; in more alkaline soils, flower color may have a pink hue.
Provide organically rich, well-drained soil. Apply mulch to conserve moisture and protect in harsh winters. Water deeply, regularly in first growing season to establish extensive root system.
